- Reduce the day. Born on the 23rd? 2 plus 3 is 5.
- Reduce the year. 1978 becomes 1 plus 9 plus 7 plus 8 is 25, then 2 plus 5 is 7.
- Add the three results and reduce once more to a single digit.
Worked example, 23 June 1978: month 6, day 5, year 7. Add them: 6 plus 5 plus 7 is 18. Reduce: 1 plus 8 is 9. Life path 9.
The one exception is the master numbers, described next.
The master numbers: 11, 22, and 33
If any step of your calculation lands on 11, 22, or 33, you do not reduce it. These are the master numbers, read as an intensified version of their single-digit root: 11 as a heightened 2, 22 as a heightened 4, 33 as a heightened 6. They tend to describe a life with a steeper learning curve and a larger charge to it, gifts and demands both turned up.
So if your year reduces to 11, or your final total is 22, you keep the master number and read both it and its root (an 11 carries the themes of 2 as well). Not everyone lands on one, and it is not "better" to. It is simply a heavier load to carry, not a badge.
