It is calculated from your birth month and birth day plus the current calendar year, and it always reduces to a single digit between 1 and 9. Your birth year plays no part. Common questions
How is the personal year number calculated?
Reduce your birth month to a single digit, reduce your birth day to a single digit, reduce the current calendar year to a single digit, add those three results together, then reduce once more. Born on 23 June, in 2026: month 6, day 2 plus 3 is 5, year 2026 reduces to 1. That is 6 plus 5 plus 1, which is 12, which reduces to 3. A personal year 3.
Does the personal year use my birth year?
No, and this is the step most people get wrong by importing the habit from the life path number, where the whole date is used. The personal year uses only the month and day you were born plus the year you are currently in. That is why this calculator asks for two things rather than three.
Can your personal year be a master number like 11 or 22?
No. The personal year always reduces all the way down to a single digit between 1 and 9. If your calculation passes through 11, 22, or 33 along the way, you keep reducing. A calculator that hands you a personal year 11 is applying the life path rule where it does not belong. Master numbers are preserved in the life path, which is a different calculation.
When does the personal year change?
On 1 January, in the method used here and in most published numerology, because the calculation takes the calendar year. A second convention counts the personal year as starting on your birthday instead. Neither is more correct, since neither is measuring anything physical. What matters is picking one and staying with it.
